When our grandparents come to visit, they always challenge us with a treasure hunt where the clues are hidden in different codes. Since we really have fun DECODING the clues, we decided to give our friends the chance to have fun too. So with the help of our grandparents, we have created www.decodele.com
Every month (or maybe more often if we have time) we will post new coded messages for you to solve – using different kind of codes. The kinds of codes are called ciphers.
The first DECODELE secret message is written in a Random Letter Substitution cipher.
In a random letter cipher, the letters of the alphabet are mixed up in a random (no special) order, and then each of those letters is assigned a letter in the real alphabet.
The coded message is written by substituting a random letter for each of the real letters in the message you want to send. (the coded message is sometimes called the “cipher text” and your uncoded message is called the “plain text.”)
